Moving day passes very quickly, and anything not prepared in advance will consume your precious time and disrupt both the crew and the whole schedule. We have gathered everything you need to prepare before the crew arrives — save this checklist and come back to it.
Documents and Valuables
Gather in one bag that stays with you personally: IDs and passports, documents and contracts, jewelry and cash, tablets and laptops, and any high sentimental-value items. These never go on the truck, no matter how trusted the company is.
First-Day Bag for the New Home
Prepare a bag covering 48 hours: clothing, toiletries, chargers and power adapters, daily medication, towels and simple kitchen essentials. With this bag you will not need to open dozens of boxes on the first night.
Electrical Appliances
Unplug the refrigerator 24 hours ahead and dry it completely, drain the washing machine and dry its hoses, photograph TV and audio wiring before disconnecting, and gather remotes and cables into one labeled bag. Water heaters and fixed appliances need a technician to disconnect if you plan to move them.
Coordinating the Location and Building
Inform the management of both buildings (old and new) about the moving date, reserve the elevator if the building requires it, make sure there is nearby parking suitable for a large truck, and have the new home keys ready before moving day — not on it.
Food and Drinks
In the final week, focus on consuming fridge and freezer contents, and donate or distribute what remains before moving day. Prepare cold water and light refreshments for yourself and the crew — a moving day in Riyadh’s heat is long and exhausting.
Children and Pets
Moving day is an unsafe environment for small children and pets: open doors and heavy pieces moving in every direction. Arrange in advance for someone to host them that day, or dedicate a safe, closed room for them away from the moving activity.
One Last Round Before the Truck Leaves
Before the truck moves, a final round is mandatory: inside wardrobes, on top of wardrobes, storage rooms, balconies, behind doors and kitchen drawers. The most forgotten items: contents on top of wardrobes and balcony items.
