Packing is not just wrapping furniture in plastic — it is a complete system with its own materials, methods and rules. Proper packing is the first — and sometimes only — line of defense between your furniture and scratches or breakage during moving and storage. Here is how we pack furniture at Marasi for complete protection.

Essential Packing Materials and When to Use Each

Stretch Film

The most used material: it protects surfaces from dust and light scratches and holds drawers and doors shut. Ideal for sofas, upholstery and wooden pieces after covering them with blankets.

Bubble Wrap

The first protection layer for delicate items: glass, mirrors, screens, antiques and table legs. A fixed rule: bubble wrap first, then any layer above it.

Moving Blankets

Thick dedicated blankets used to wrap large wooden pieces like beds, wardrobes and tables, then secured with stretch film. They absorb shocks and prevent friction inside the truck.

Heavy-Duty Cartons

For small and medium items. Choose double-wall boxes for heavy contents, and never overfill a box beyond its capacity or the base will tear.

Packing Sofas and Majlis Sets

We start by removing cushions and packing them separately, then wrap the sofa body in a full layer of stretch film covering corners and armrests, with extra protection for wooden legs. Leather sofas need a cloth layer first so plastic does not stick to leather in the heat.

Packing Glass and Mirrors

We wrap the piece in bubble wrap in two crossing directions, then cover it with heavy-duty cardboard and clearly mark it “Fragile”. Large glass pieces like dining tables are transported vertically, never flat.

Packing Wooden Furniture

We protect corners with dedicated corner guards — corners are the first to get hit — then wrap the piece in moving blankets secured with stretch film. Glossy surfaces need a paper layer first so plastic never sticks to the finish.

Packing Electrical Appliances

Appliances are wrapped with shock-absorbing materials, and fridge and washing machine doors are secured with residue-free tape. Screens are wrapped in bubble wrap then heavy-duty cardboard, and always transported standing upright.

Numbering and Labeling Boxes

Every box is numbered and labeled with its contents, destination room and fragility level. This simple system makes unpacking in the new home far faster and prevents heavy boxes from being placed on delicate ones.

Can Packing Be Booked as a Standalone Service?

Yes — at Marasi we offer professional packing as a separate service for anyone preparing furniture for storage, shipping, or even protection during renovation and painting work.
